Mild steel plates are widely used in construction works. There are different sizes of mild plates available in the market. In this article, I will explain how to calculate the weight of different sizes of mild steel plates. This will surely help you in billing.
How To Calculate Weight Of Mild Steel Plates For Billing
Example 1:
Assume,
The length of the mild plate = L = 1 m
The breadth of the mild plate = B = 1 m
The thickness of the mild plate = T = 10 mm = 0.01 m
To calculate the weight, first we need to find out the volume of the steel plate.
Volume = Length x Breadth x Thickness
= L x B x T
= 1 x 1 x 0.01 = 0.01 m3
Weight of steel plate = Volume of steel plate x Density of steel.
We know that the density of steel = 7850 kg/m3
∴ Weight = 0.01 x 7850 = 78.5 kg
Example 2:
The length of the mild plate = L = 1 m
The breadth of the mild plate = B = 1 m
The thickness of the mild plate = T = 70 mm = 0.07 m
Volume Of plate = L x B x T = 1 x 1 x 0.07 =0.07 m3
∴ Weight of steel plate = Volume of steel plate x Density of steel.
Weight of steel plate = 0.07 x 7850 = 549.5 Kg.
Similarly, you can calculate the weight of different thicknesses of steel plates. I have already calculated the weight of plates with different thicknesses which are standard and available in the market.
